AffiliScan

Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 13, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how AffiliScan handles information when you use the AffiliScan Chrome extension and website (the "Service").

1. A Note on Earlier Versions

Earlier versions of AffiliScan ran entirely on your device with no account and stored nothing on our servers. As of version 1.2.8, AffiliScan supports user accounts and saves your scan history to your dashboard. This policy describes how the current version handles your data.

2. Information We Collect

  • Account information — when you sign in (via Google through our authentication provider, Clerk), we receive your email address, basic profile information, and an account identifier.
  • Authentication data — session tokens and cookies used to keep you signed in across the extension and website.
  • Scan data — the YouTube video URLs and titles you scan, the Amazon affiliate links found in those descriptions, and the status we determine for each link (working, broken, or unavailable). This is saved to your dashboard when you are signed in.
  • Usage and preferences — counts used to enforce plan limits (such as the number of scans this month) and your email-alert preference.

We do not collect your browsing history. The extension only reads pages you ask it to scan.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide the core service: scanning, showing your scan history, and (for scheduled scans) re-checking your links on a schedule.
  • To enforce Free and Pro plan limits.
  • To send you email alerts about broken or unavailable links when you enable them.
  • To operate, secure, and support the Service.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

4. How Scans Work

To check a link, AffiliScan fetches the relevant YouTube and Amazon pages. For scans you run from the extension, this generally happens from your browser; for scheduled scans, it happens on our servers. We request public pages to determine link status and do not send your account information to YouTube or Amazon.

5. Service Providers

We share data only with providers that help us operate AffiliScan, under their respective terms:

  • Clerk — authentication and account management.
  • Supabase — database storing your scan history, usage, and preferences.
  • Resend — delivery of the email alerts you request.
  • Vercel — application hosting.
  • Anthropic — powers the optional AI support chat on our website; messages you send in the chat are processed to generate a reply. Only used if you choose to interact with the chat.

6. Cookies

We use authentication cookies (via Clerk) to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

7. Extension Permissions

activeTab — read the current YouTube tab when you start a scan. scripting — inject the content script that reads the video description. storage — keep you signed in and preserve in-progress scan state. tabs — identify the active YouTube video to scan. cookies — let our authentication provider maintain your session. Host access is limited to YouTube, Amazon domains, and AffiliScan's own services.

8. Data Retention and Your Choices

You can delete individual scans from your dashboard, and you can delete your account, which removes your associated data. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data, or to object to or restrict its processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at hello@affiliscan.app.

9. Children

AffiliScan is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect their data.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will revise the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, provide notice.
